Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>The local basketball governing body (FERWABA) has confirmed that the inaugural Rwanda Super Cup will take place on January 17, 2025.<\/p>\n

Federation\u2019s Executive Director Fiona Ishimwe confirmed the dates to Times Sport adding that the venue for the games, both men and women, will be announced in due course.<\/p>\n

The Super Cup was introduced by the 2023 General Assembly. Serving as the curtain-raiser for the new season, it pits the league champions against the winners of the recently introduced Rwanda Cup.<\/p>\n

Rwandan champions APR will face Rwanda Energy Group (REG) in the men\u2019s category. The army side won both trophies and they will, as a result, play against REG who finished as Rwanda Cup 2024 runners-up.<\/p>\n

In the women’s category, league champions REG will lock horns with APR who are reigning Rwanda Cup winners.<\/p>\n

Both matches will follow a single-game format where the winner will be determined after a 40-minute, four-quarter contest.<\/p>\n

The new season for both men and women\u2019s league will commence on January 24.<\/p>\n
