Local basketball power-houses APR and Rwanda Energy Group (REG) will face off in the Rwanda Super Cup on January 17 at BK Arena.<\/p>\n

Introduced by the 2023 General Assembly, the Super Cup serves as the curtain-raiser for the new season of Rwanda Basketball League (RBL). It pits the league champions against the winners of the Rwanda Cup in a one-game battle.<\/p>\n

Since APR won both trophies last year, REG has only been invited to play the Super Cup as runners up of Rwanda Cup 2024.<\/p>\n

REG is expected to be without Dieudonne Ndizeye and Steven Hagumintwari, the two forwards, whose transfer from Patriots is turning out to be characterised by a number of twists and turns.<\/p>\n

The team is also expected to be without their new head coach Ogoh Odaudu, and will be coached by his deputy, Maxime Mwiseneza.<\/p>\n

In the women’s category, REG, who won the 2024 league trophy, will lock horns with Rwanda Cup winners APR.<\/p>\n
