Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>SC Kiyovu FC new head coach Marcel Lomami has said his side will take every game serious as they vow to fight hard and avoid relegation from the Rwanda Premier League.<\/p>\n

Kiyovu finished the first round of the league campaign at the bottom of the 16-team league table with 12 points. They trail Muhazi United who are in 14th place, by one point.<\/p>\n

Lomami, who was appointed new head coach of the club in January, believes there is still hope to avoid relegation as long as his team improves its performance in the second round.<\/p>\n

“I just came in during a bad time when the team was losing many games and it is very tricky to turn things around, but I am trying my best and, together, we believe this team can stay in the top flight division,\u201d Lomami told Times Sport.<\/p>\n

“We are obviously in a bad situation, but it\u2019s still early to start thinking that we have been relegated, we need to win more than we lose and hope that the teams above drop some points in the process. We don\u2019t want to go down in the second division,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Lomami is working hard to boost players\u2019 confidence before the league resumes. The Green Baggies will take on 2025 Heroes Cup winners APR FC on Saturday, February 8 at Kigali Pele Stadium.<\/p>\n

The club\u2019s squad is dominated by young players who were promoted from the youth team as the club remains banned by FIFA from buying players.<\/p>\n

Lomami now hopes to find solutions from the young players he has at his disposal with new loanees David Niyo, Thierry Shema, Rene Uwineza, Bertrand Dusengumuremyi, who all joined from Intare FC, expected to play an impact and help the team turn results around.<\/p>\n

In 2017, Kiyovu SC suffered relegation for the first time in their 53-year history but miraculously returned to the topflight division without kicking a ball in the second division.<\/p>\n

This was after Isonga FC, a team which had been promoted to the topflight rejected the opportunity.<\/p>\n
