Africa-Press – Rwanda. <\/strong><\/span>Rwanda assistant coach Eric Nshimiyimana has said that Tuesday\u2019s draw against Lesotho in Kigali wasn\u2019t the result their wanted as they looked to put Nigeria loss behind with a win over the Southern African side.<\/p>\n

Lesotho held Rwanda to a 1-1 draw after midfielder Lehlohonolo Fothoane came from the bench to score a late equalizer after Jojea Kwizera had put the hosts ahead in the 58th minute.<\/p>\n

With the draw, Amavubi missed a chance to close the gap on South Africa who not sit top of Group C with 13 points after beating Benin 2-0 at Stade Fe\u0301lix Houphoue\u0308t Boigny in Abidjan, Co\u0302te d’Ivoire.<\/p>\n

Nshimiyimana admits the results wasn\u2019t what they wanted but quickly urged the players to stay put and strive to improve the performance when the next round of games take place in September.<\/p>\n

” We drew at home and that is not the results we wanted because we dominated. We have to strategize for the next round of games,” he told the press.<\/p>\n

Rwanda was on top of Group C with 7 points in four games before German coach Frank Spittler left his job in December 2024. Rwanda FA replaced Spittler with Algerian tactician Adel Amrouche who has now seen the team drop points during the past two games where he managed to collect one single point out of a possible six.<\/p>\n

Skipper of the day, Thierry Manzi, also observed that there is vast technical difference between the current team led by Algerian coach Amrouche and the team that Spittler was coaching before his exit.<\/p>\n

“I think both technical teams and the approach is not the same. There is a great difference between the two technical teams,” Manzi said.<\/p>\n

Rwanda has now climbed to second place with 8 points, five points shy of Group C leaders South Africa.<\/p>\n

Nigeria are fourth with points after Zimbabwe held them to a 1-1 draw in Uyo on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
