En augmentant l\u2019acidite\u0301 du milieu, elles libe\u0300rent du phosphore essentiel a\u0300 la croissance des ve\u0301ge\u0301taux, et qui fait de\u0301faut dans le sol de la Lune.<\/p>\n<p><b>Modifier la chimie du sol lunaire<\/b><\/p>\n<p>En 2022, des recherches ame\u0301ricaines avaient de\u0301ja\u0300 de\u0301montre\u0301 que le sol lunaire pouvait e\u0302tre utilise\u0301 pour cultiver l\u2019arabette des dames (Arabidopsis thaliana). Mais il supportait assez mal la croissance de ces plantes.<\/p>\n<p>Surtout, lors de ces essais, les ve\u0301ritables e\u0301chantillons de sol lunaire utilise\u0301s s\u2019e\u0301taient montre\u0301s pauvre en azote, ne\u0301cessaire a\u0300 la croissance des plantes ; ils contenaient par ailleurs du phosphore sous une forme insoluble ne pouvant pas e\u0302tre absorbe\u0301e par les plantes. D\u2019ou\u0300 l\u2019inte\u0301re\u0302t de modifier les proprie\u0301te\u0301s chimiques du sol lunaire pour le rendre plus accueillant.<\/p>\n<p>A l\u2019occasion de cette pre\u0301ce\u0301dente expe\u0301rience, le patron de la Nasa Bill Nelson avait de\u0301clare\u0301 que \u201cces recherches sont cruciales pour les objectifs de la Nasa d\u2019exploration humaine a\u0300 long terme.
