Cette op\u00e9ration a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9e dans le cadre d’un essai clinique destin\u00e9 \u00e0 \u00e9valuer la s\u00fbret\u00e9 et l’efficacit\u00e9 d’un tel implant pour les personnes atteintes de microtie, dont l’oreille externe ne s’est pas d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e correctement.<\/p>\n

AuriNovo, le nom de l’implant, a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 par l’entreprise 3DBio Therapeutics, et l’op\u00e9ration r\u00e9alis\u00e9e par Arturo Bonilla, fondateur d’un institut sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9 dans le traitement de cette malformation, \u00e0 San Antonio au Texas.<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0En tant que m\u00e9decin ayant trait\u00e9 des milliers d’enfants atteints de microtie \u00e0 travers le pays et le monde, je suis enthousiasm\u00e9 par cette technologie et ce qu’elle pourrait signifier pour les patients et leurs familles\u00a0\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le chirurgien, cit\u00e9 dans un communiqu\u00e9 de la compagnie.<\/p>\n

La proc\u00e9dure est r\u00e9alis\u00e9e en cr\u00e9ant une empreinte 3D de l’autre oreille pleinement d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e du patient, puis en collectant des cellules du cartilage de son oreille.<\/p>\n

Celles-ci sont ensuite mises en culture pour en obtenir une quantit\u00e9 suffisante, puis elles sont m\u00e9lang\u00e9es \u00e0 un hydrogel de collag\u00e8ne. C’est ce m\u00e9lange qui est utilis\u00e9 pour imprimer l’implant.<\/p>\n

L’essai clinique doit comprendre au total 11 patients, en Californie et au Texas.<\/p>\n

Le Dr. Bonilla a dit esp\u00e9rer que cet implant puisse un jour remplacer les traitements existants, qui impliquent la cr\u00e9ation d’une proth\u00e8se \u00e0 partir du pr\u00e9l\u00e8vement de cartilage d’une c\u00f4te, ou d’une substance appel\u00e9e poly\u00e9thyl\u00e8ne poreux.<\/p>\n

La premi\u00e8re solution est une proc\u00e9dure lourde, et l’implant utilisant le poly\u00e9thyl\u00e8ne poreux est moins flexible que celui test\u00e9 aujourd’hui, a-t-il expliqu\u00e9.<\/p>\n

La microtie touche environ 1 500 b\u00e9b\u00e9s aux Etats-Unis chaque ann\u00e9e, selon l’entreprise.<\/p>\n

S’ils ne pr\u00e9sentent pas d’autres probl\u00e8mes de sant\u00e9, ces enfants peuvent vivre tout \u00e0 fait normalement. Mais certains peuvent mal vivre le regard des autres sur cette malformation.<\/p>\n
