Africa-Press<\/a> – S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 and Pr\u00edncipe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Evaristo Carvalho, le candidat du Premier ministre \u00e0 S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9-et-Pr\u00edncipe, a \u00e9t\u00e9 officiellement \u00e9lu pr\u00e9sident de ce petit archipel d\u2019Afrique centrale, au terme d\u2019une \u00e9lection rocambolesque, selon les r\u00e9sultats d\u00e9finitifs transmis vendredi \u00e0 l\u2019AFP.<\/p>\n

Evaristo Carvalho, 74 ans et candidat \u00e0 un premier mandat, a obtenu 41 820 voix pour 1 522 bulletins blancs et 7 884 votes nuls au deuxi\u00e8me tour de l\u2019\u00e9lection pr\u00e9sidentielle, selon les r\u00e9sultats d\u00e9finitifs proclam\u00e9s par le Tribunal constitutionnel.<\/p>\n

L\u2019abstention a principalement marqu\u00e9 le scrutin, car seuls 46% des 111 222 inscrits se sont d\u00e9plac\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019isoloir le 7 ao\u00fbt. Le vainqueur, qui \u00e9tait de facto seul en lice, obtient 100% des voix valablement exprim\u00e9es.<\/p>\n

Boycott<\/b><\/p>\n

D\u2019abord d\u00e9sign\u00e9 vainqueur au terme du premier tour de l\u2019\u00e9lection pr\u00e9sidentielle avec plus de 50% des voix, Evaristo carvalho avait vu sa victoire pr\u00e9matur\u00e9ment annonc\u00e9e. Apr\u00e8s un recompte des voix exig\u00e9 par son adversaire, Manuel Pinto Da Costa, la Commission \u00e9lectorale (Cen) a d\u00e9cid\u00e9, le 22 juillet dernier, d\u2019annuler sa victoire et de r\u00e9organiser un scrutin pour d\u00e9partager les deux candidats. Une proposition qui n\u2019a pas convenu \u00e0 Manuel Pinto da Dosta, qui demandait l\u2019annulation de l\u2019ensemble du processus \u00e9lectoral pour cause de \u00ab fraudes \u00bb. Cela \u00e9tant, ce dernier a d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de boycotter ce second tour de l\u2019\u00e9lection pr\u00e9sidentielle, laissant ainsi le champ libre \u00e0 Evaristo Carvalho.<\/p>\n

Le chef du gouvernement, Patrice Trovoada, avait salu\u00e9 d\u00e8s l\u2019annonce des r\u00e9sultats provisoires, le 9 ao\u00fbt dernier, la \u00ab fin \u00bb de 25 ann\u00e9es de cohabitation, apr\u00e8s la victoire de \u00ab son \u00bb candidat Carvalho, vice-pr\u00e9sident du parti au pouvoir, l\u2019Action d\u00e9mocratique ind\u00e9pendante.
