
Africa-Press – Senegal. Sports Minister Yankhoba Diatara has invited the Senegal under-17 team to represent the country with “a commitment to patriotism” at the African Cup of Nations (CAN) scheduled for Algeria from April 29 to May 19.
“Representing Senegal in an international competition requires from each member of the delegation a high sense of responsibility and a patriotic commitment, backed by our cardinal values,” he said during the ceremony to hand over the flag to the Cubs which participate in the African Cup of Nations (CAN) under 17 in Algeria.
According to him, the team enjoys “the total confidence of the Senegalese people”.
“In return, the people expect you to represent them with dignity during your stay in Algeria, through your combativeness in the game, your spirit of sacrifice and overcoming, as well as your exemplary behavior,” he told the Cubs.
He invited the Senegalese delegation to « have, in all circumstances, irreproachable behavior, remaining attached to the values of courage, honor, dignity and respect for the adversary and other actors ».
Mr. Diatara also invited the team to show « more rigor, discipline and humility », believing that « it is only at this price that you will be able to overcome the various obstacles which will undoubtedly stand in your way. A journey that we want to end with a victory on the evening of the final of May 19, 2023.
