Mr. Sall will receive this distinction at the official opening of this festival which will be held until May 7th.

« I am very moved because the Grand Prize for African poetry that was awarded to me bears the name this year of Léopold Sédar Senghor. I am still very touched because Senegal is present all over the world through culture, » Amadou Lamine Sall told APS.

He also invited to pay more attention to culture at a time when, he said, “politics counts more in the country”. “Culture has moved from our country,” he lamented.

The writer calls for us to sit down and reflect because « Senegal remains a great, recognized and respected country of culture ».

« Culture is important, we must manage and protect it well. Culture is not the short term, nor the medium term, it is at the beginning and at the beginning of everything, it is not like the economy which responds to these classifications, culture escapes that. underlined Amadou lamine Sall.

According to the site of the house of poetry visited by the APS, the festival aims to “celebrate African poetry in all its diversity and its icons, its big names and its voices which are expressed in different languages and have various visions. and sensitivities », indicate the initiators.

The festival is organized as part of « Rabat capital of African culture » launched since 2022.
