The Director General of APIX, the agency in charge of major works and investments of the State of Senegal, Abdoulaye Baldé, spoke about the Senegalese experience in the development of new cities, at the ninth edition of the Africa CEO Forum in Abidjan, APS learned from a good source.

Opened Monday in the presence of the Ivorian President, Alassane Ouattara, the forum will continue until Thursday.
According to an APIX press release, « demography and development: are new towns suitable? » is the theme of a panel moderated by the Director General of APIX.
Mr. Baldé cited the example of Diamniadio (west), where the State of Senegal is in the process of building “a new urban pole”.
« The new town concept also calls for an optimal distribution of living and working spaces, with the implementation of industrial zones or special economic zones », reports the press release quoting Abdoulaye Baldé.
« The director general of APIX declined the ambitions of the city of Diamniadio and its extensions to Diass (west) », affirms the same source, adding that « this new booming city is home to [infrastructure ] administrative », including the CICAD, the Abdou-Diouf international conference center and the exhibition centre.
Added to this are motorway and railway works, as well as hospital and sports facilities.
The Director General of APIX also spoke about the Invest in Senegal Forum, which will take place from July 6 to 8 in Dakar.
According to the press release, he reassured the businessmen who had come to participate in the Africa CEO Forum, regarding “Senegal’s ability to overcome obstacles, given the context of crisis that the [country] is experiencing”.
Abdoulaye Baldé discussed with the participants the Senegalese reforms in terms of the business environment by telling them about what the authorities in Senegal are doing « to attract more national and foreign private investment ».
