Africa-Press – Senegal. La Confédération africaine de football (CAF) va continuer à travailler afin d’assurer aux joueurs africains évoluant sur le continent des salaires « plus attractifs et compétitifs à l’échelle mondiale » en vue de « faire avancer leurs intérêts », a soutenu, mercredi, son président Patrice Motsepe.

“CAF will continue to engage and work with the International Federation of Professional Football Associations, (FIFPRO) to advance the interests and rights of football players in Africa and around the world,” he said. .

Speaking at the FIFPRO Africa Congress in Gaborone, Botswana, the president of the African football body argued that « the biggest investment that CAF can make is in football players and youth football ».

Mr. Motsepe also mentioned the African Super League which is an annual continental club football competition organized by CAF. It should start in August 2023 with the participation of eight clubs.

« One of the main objectives of this competition is to work with African clubs to pay football players in Africa attractive and globally competitive salaries, » said the CAF President.

He reiterated the African football governing body’s commitment to « promoting and advancing the interests and rights » of footballers, clubs, national teams, member associations, zonal unions and all stakeholders in the football on the African continent.

Dans le même sillage, le président de la FIFPRO Afrique, le Camerounais Gérémie Njitap a affirmé l’engagement de sa structure à « travailler en étroite collaboration » avec la CAF pour l’intérêt du football africain.
