Africa-Press – Senegal. People under the age of 25 represent nearly 75% of the Senegalese population, said Tuesday in Dakar, the Minister of Economy, Planning and Cooperation, Oulimata Sarr , based on the provisional results of the fifth general population and housing census (RGPH-5).
‘’Les données provisoires que nous avons disent que nous en sommes à près de 70 %, voire 75 % de Sénégalais ayant moins de 25 ans. Nous sommes donc une population jeune’’, a-t-elle dit à l’ouverture d’un atelier consacré à la relance du Conseil présidentiel de l’investissement.
Le RGPH-5, entamé en mai, s’est déroulé jusqu’au 20 du mois courant, selon l’Agence nationale de la statistique et de la démographie.
Oulimata Sarr asks people who have not yet registered to get down to it. « People who haven’t registered can call a toll-free number to allow census workers to come and register them, » Ms. Sarr said, hinting that RGPH-5 is continuing.
