Africa-Press – Senegal. The President of the Republic, Macky Sall, said on Saturday in Dakar that he wanted to say, next Monday, whether or not he will be a candidate in the presidential election of February 25, 2024.
« I can’t answer you, no matter how beautiful your message, but it will be done. Monday, Inch’Allah (please God), I will do it, ”replied Mr. Sall to the mayors and presidents of the departmental councils he received at the Palace of the Republic.
The Association of Mayors of Senegal and that bringing together the leaders of the departmental councils signed a petition asking him to apply and promised to support him.
According to a press release from the two associations of leaders of local authorities, all or almost all activists of political parties of the coalition he leads, the petition was signed by 87% of Senegal’s mayors and 84% of the presidents of departmental councils.
Without advancing a date, Macky Sall announced last week that he would say, after the Tabaski, if he would be a candidate or not.
