Africa-Press – Senegal. Le président de la République démocratique du Congo (RDC), Félix Tshisekedi, a dénoncé, vendredi, à Kinshasa, l’‘’agression injuste’’ et le ‘’pillage massif’’ des richesses de son pays par des ‘’groupes […] terroristes’’, dans l’est du territoire congolais.
« These ninth Games of La Francophonie are a strong symbol, as they represent the solidarity of French-speakers with the Congolese, who are victims of unjust aggression in the east of our country and of the massive looting of our wealth by the groups [ …] terrorists,” Mr. Tshisekedi argued .
The aggression and looting he speaks of is carried out » with the support of some of our neighbours », he said, referring to the rebellion led in eastern DRC by the Mouvement du 23- March.
La présence d’une quarantaine de délégations à Kinshasa, pour les Jeux de la Francophonie, ‘’donne aux Congolais des raisons de croire encore à la francophonie en ces moments d’adversité’’, a dit le président de la RDC.
« Here we are gathered to celebrate Francophone youth in all its splendor. On this exceptional occasion, I wish to express my deep gratitude to all States, to the Democratic Republic of Congo in particular,” said the administrator of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), Caroline St- Hilaire .
The organization of the Games of La Francophonie is « a call for unity and solidarity », at the same time « a hymn to creativity and excellence », according to Ms. St- Hilaire .
‘’La langue française, c’est bien plus qu’un outil de communication. C’est un puissant écho de nos arts, de nos cultures et de nos traditions. Elle est un symbole vivant, une mélodie en parfaite évolution’’, a poursuivi l’administratrice de l’OIF.
Les neuvièmes Jeux de la Francophonie se sont ouverts vendredi à Kinshasa sous le signe de la diversité culturelle.
La cérémonie d’ouverture de l’événement a revêtu un impressionnant cachet culturel et artistique.
Au stade des Martyrs de la Pentecôte, dans la capitale de la République démocratique du Congo, les tenues traditionnelles et de sport ont fait fureur.
Des milliers d’habitants de Kinshasa, la plus grande ville du monde francophone, ont tenu à assister à l’ouverture des Jeux de la Francophonie, aux côtés de leurs compatriotes arrivés de diverses contrées de la RDC, d’officiels et de quelque 3.000 sportifs venus de nombreux pays.
Quarante pays prennent part aux neuvièmes Jeux de la Francophonie, qui vont se poursuivre jusqu’au 6 août.
Athletics, disabled sports, women’s basketball, judo, freestyle and African wrestling, table tennis, men’s football and cycling are part of the programme.
Apart from sports, participants from French-speaking countries will also take part in 11 cultural disciplines, including ball juggling, photography, painting, visual arts, creative dance and hip-hop.
The competitions will take place at the Martyrs de la Pentecost stadium, at the Tata-Raphaël stadium and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kinshasa.
