Ngoné Mbengue elected 1st deputy mayor

Africa-Press – Senegal. Ngoné Mbengue, member of the Taxawou Senegal movement, was elected, Wednesday, 1st deputy mayor of the city of Dakar, replacing Abass Fall of the Pastef party.

The holding of a new election of the deputy mayors of the city of Dakar follows a judgment of the Supreme Court invalidating the previous ballot which had not respected parity.

The government recently announced the dissolution of Pastef after the imprisonment of its leader Ousmane Sonko for, among other charges, « calling for insurrection ».
