Africa-Press – Senegal. The Minister of Culture and Historical Heritage, Aliou Sow, laid the foundation stone of the Arab-Islamic cultural reading and animation center in Fass Makhtar, a locality located in the town of Djamal, in the region of Kaffrine (center-west), found the APS.

« Today, we are meeting to lay the first stone of the center for reading and Arab-Islamic cultural activities in Fass Makhtar, » Sow said on Tuesday during the ceremony in the presence of the Caliph General of the city. nun of Djamal, El Hadji Amadou Cissé.

He pointed out that Fass Makhtar “is a religious high place imbued with the wisdom of scholars of Islam who have succeeded in this locality from generation to generation”.

« This initiative represents an innovation, because it is the first time that such a center with an Arab-Islamic vocation has been established », he added, welcoming « the role of our religious guides in the promotion of religion and in various disciplines, ranging from economics to agriculture to digital and poetry ».

For the minister, “it is therefore time for leaders to value the intellectual heritage of our scholars by publishing their writings, preserving them and translating them into other languages, in order to facilitate their dissemination and ensure their wide access. to youth”.

He specified that this center, in addition to promoting religious sciences, will also pave the way for other disciplines, while preparing in a pedagogical way “our future enlightened citizens”.

“We are also committed to promoting the proliferation of this initiative across Senegal, thus reducing our dependence on foreign sciences to feed our knowledge and strengthen our arguments,” he further argued.

The Caliph General of the Djamal family, El Hadji Amadou Cissé, expressed prayers on this occasion for the success of this project and for a Senegal of peace and prosperity.

Administrative authorities of the region as well as the mayor of the commune of Djamal, Mor Kâ, took part in the ceremony.
