Africa-Press – Senegal. La disparition de l’acteur sénégalais Mentor Ba, décédé jeudi à Dakar, est ‘’une grosse perte pour le cinéma sénégalais’’, a affirmé le réalisateur Fabacary Assimby Coly, saluant la mémoire la mémoire d’un ‘’acteur très discipliné sur le plateau’’.
Ba, qui a joué dans plusieurs séries et films sénégalais, a été inhumé le même jour à Touba, a annoncé son frère Me Khoureyssi Ba sur sa page Facebook.
« God is God. My mother is not yet buried that my beloved little brother Mentor Ba (ABG in the Golden series of Marodi) also leaves us, » wrote his brother to announce the sad news.
« It’s a big loss for Senegalese cinema, » lamented Senegalese director Fabacary Assimby Coly, after being contacted by telephone. The deceased was a “passionate, very disciplined actor on the set”, he testified. According to him, « he respects working hours and is always attentive. He is an exemplary actor and even though his career has had a meteoric rise, he has remained the same.
Fabacary Assimby Coly worked with him in the pilot of a series called « Dantec » and produced by TV5. He says he met him during the casting of the film « Xalé » by Moussa Sène Absa.
“In 2014, he had accompanied his daughter for the casting of a series and with Moussa Sène Absa, we had asked him to pass the casting. He had timidly declined, but we had insisted. He had finally accepted and took a liking to the casting, » says Fabacary Assimby Coly.
He also remembers him as a professional who “shared a lot of love and humanity on the film sets”. The Senegalese director considers that he was « at the service of art ».
« My Great Mentor Ba! Your journey will upset many artistic projects, but go in peace to light up other skies, » he wrote.
Actor Mentor Ba also starred in the series « Golden », produced by the production company Marodi Tv. Actress Amélie Mbaye, his wife in this series, also expressed her sorrow.
« I can’t find the words, I am devastated, bruised, I have just learned of the departure of my dear and tender friend, brother, accomplice, husband in Golden, my own Albad, my ABG… Farewell my Mentor Ba. Rest in Peace my friend,” she wrote on her wall.
Young actors and many artists hailed the memory of the one who was fraternally called « Father Mentor Ba ».
The actor played in the films « Saloum » by French director Jean Luc Herbulot and « Xalé, the wounds of childhood » by Moussa Sène Absa, two fictions which will be screened at the 17th edition of the cinema festival . of Africa from Lausanne in Switzerland, which started on Thursday.
