Africa-Press – Senegal. Frenchman Pascal Montet has been named the new coach of Senegal’s national disabled basketball team, a statement from the Senegalese wheelchair basketball section announced.
A sports teacher at the Center for Resources, Expertise and Sports Performance (CREPS) in Vichy (France) since 1990, Monter specializes in the training of sports coaches, all disciplines and categories combined.
A coach for 38 years, he led France’s national women’s disabled basketball team from 2010 to 2016.
He participated with her in three European championships (Israel 2011, Germany 2013 and Great Britain 2015), as well as a World Championship (Toronto 2014) and two Paralympic Games (London 2012 and Rio 2016).
Senegal will participate in the African Paralympic Games, scheduled in Accra from September 1 to 13, 2023. The Lions are housed in Pool B with Egypt and Kenya. The tournament is a qualifier for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
