Africa-Press – Senegal. Senegal’s national A’ team is a « pool » of talents and good players who will constitute the « future » of Senegalese football, said Senegalese technician Malick Daff.

For the last day of qualifying for the next African Cup of Nations (CAN) scheduled for 2024 in Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal has called up 31 players who have never played for the senior national team.

Cet effectif qui réduit finalement à 23 joueurs, va rencontrer l’équipe rwandaise à Huye, dans le sud du Rwanda, samedi sera conduit par les entraîneurs Malick Daff et Pape Bouna Thiaw.

The national A’ team replaces the A team focused on its international friendly match against Algeria next Tuesday at the Abdoulaye Wade stadium in Diamniadio.

“Team A’ is a pool of players and the future of Senegalese football. It’s a unique opportunity never before done in Senegal for young players. In the future we will need them. They have the chance to play this match against Rwanda. You have to concentrate and go for a good result, » said Daff.

He spoke with journalists on Tuesday after a training session at the Lat Dior stadium in Thiès.

Cette équipe du Sénégal est constituée de joueurs de l’équipe nationale des moins de 20 ans et des moins de 23 ans, et de footballeurs de l’équipe nationale locale.

“This mix of players from different categories is a first in Senegal. It is a source of motivation for the young players who knock on the door of the A team. A unique opportunity for them, ”said Malick Daff.

“It’s a good breeding ground for the national A team. It’s an opportunity for young footballers to seize,” he said.

According to him, the team is motivated, involved and determined to achieve a good result.

Senegal and Rwanda are housed in Pool L, which they also share with Mozambique and Benin. The Lions leaders of the group with 13 points are qualified at the end of the fourth day of the playoffs.

Les Rwandais derniers avec deux points sont éliminés. L’unique place du groupe à prendre se jouera entre le Mozambique (7 points), deuxième et le Bénin (5 points).
