Africa-Press – Senegal. Germany and Serbia will play the final of the Basketball World Cup on Sunday at 12:40 GMT at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay de Manila (Philippines). Serbia, the first team to qualify for the final of this 19th edition , beat Canada in the semi-final (95-86) on Friday.
The Serbians will play the second final in their history. At the start of the afternoon, Germany also confirmed its place in the final. The Germans defeated one of the big favorites of the competition, the United States, in the semi-final with a narrow score of 113 points to 111.
The Germans will play their first World Cup final. Sunday’s final will be 100% European between Serbia and Germany. Five countries, Angola, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, Egypt and South Sudan, represented Africa at the Basketball World Cup.
The South Sudanese finished as the best team on the continent and qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. They beat Angola by 101 points to 78. The other teams were all eliminated in the first round.
The Bright Stars of South Sudan, who took part in the first Basketball World Cup in their young history, won the only ticket for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games reserved for Africa in this World Cup. The Basketball World Cup is hosted by the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia. The competition has been open since August 25.
