Africa-Press – Senegal. <\/strong><\/span>Lieutenant General Mbaye Cisse\u0301 was officially installed on Tuesday as Chief of the General Staff of the Senegalese Armed Forces.<\/p>\n

The takeover ceremony took place in the Dial Diop district under the chairmanship of the Minister of the Armed Forces, Sidiki Kaba, in the presence of the senior commander of the national gendarmerie and director of military justice, Moussa Fall, as well as several officers generals and colonels including the commander of military zone No. 1, Colonel Mbaye Gueye.<\/p>\n

Several officials and heads of foreign services as well as several civilian personalities and retired military personnel took part in the installation ceremony.<\/p>\n

The ceremony was also marked by the laying of a wreath at the Memorial of Remembrance, followed by the signing of the guest book by General Cisse\u0301. He was elevated to the rank of Commander of the National Order of the Lion before being awarded the Command Pennant.<\/p>\n

The Senegalese presidency announced, in early April, the elevation of Major General Mbaye Cisse\u0301 to the rank of General of the Army and his appointment to the post of Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces (CEMGA) to replace General Cheikh Wade.<\/p>\n

The new Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Mbaye Cisse\u0301, aged 59, is a senior officer experienced in command tasks.<\/p>\n

General Cisse\u0301, the son of a gendarme, is a graduate of the United States Army Command and Staff School and has a certificate from the Ecole Supe\u0301rieure de Guerre in Paris (formerly the Inter-Army College of defense).<\/p>\n

He has also completed other training in the field of defense and security sector reform in general.<\/p>\n

He holds a master’s certificate in philosophy, a certificate of higher education in psychology and sociology, a Master 2 in international relations (option Public law-Security-Defence) obtained at the University of Paris 2 Pantheon Assas, in France.<\/p>\n

The former promotion director, then head of the ENOA tactical unit is notably the author of the souvenir book \u00ab\u00a0Jambaar 1960-2010\u00a0\u00bb, and \u00ab\u00a0Operation Fode\u0301 Kaba II\u00a0\u00bb in which he evokes the military highlights of the Senegalese armies in Gambia, in 1981.<\/p>\n
