Africa-Press – Senegal. <\/strong><\/span>The AS Pikine Management Committee on Wednesday invited the Senegalese football authorities to take the necessary measures to ensure the safety of its team for its next trips to the city of Gue\u0301diawaye.<\/p>\n

Tuesday, the match of the 16th round of the Senegal Cup at the Ibrahima Boye stadium in Gue\u0301diawaye between AS Pikine and Dakar Sacre\u0301-C\u0153ur was interrupted, in the second period, because of stone throwing from people claiming Gue\u0301diawaye CF. AS Pikine, which was already leading (1-0), before the match was interrupted, finally qualified for the round of 16 of the competition.<\/p>\n

In a press release received by APS, AS Pikine \u00ab\u00a0condemns to the last energy\u00a0\u00bb this incident which, according to the team’s Steering Committee, \u00ab\u00a0dishonours sportsmanship\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

However, the committee calls on its leaders and supporters \u00ab\u00a0for calm, vigilance and serenity\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe AS Pikine team has been traveling well for some time. Let’s focus on the derby of the suburbs which must be for us as for Gue\u0301diawaye FC a real celebration of Senegalese football, \u00ab\u00a0reports the press release.<\/p>\n

The two teams face each other on Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Abdoulaye Wade stadium, on the occasion of the 19th day of the national Ligue 1 football championship.<\/p>\n

Gue\u0301diawaye FC also issued a press release assuring that these attacks are \u00ab\u00a0in no way the work of its supporters\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Gue\u0301diawaye FC has \u00ab\u00a0reaffirmed its commitment to the values \u200b\u200bof peace and brotherhood which govern football\u00a0\u00bb and promises that it is in this state of mind that the club is preparing for the derby against AS Pikine.<\/p>\n
