Africa-Press – Senegal. <\/strong><\/span>Le pre\u0301sident de la Re\u0301publique Macky Sall a proce\u0301de\u0301, mardi, a\u0300 Ndoukhoureu Peulh, dans la commune de Yenne, a\u0300 l\u2019inauguration de la Zone d\u2019activite\u0301s des me\u0301caniciens et des professionnels de l\u2019automobile (ZAMPA), une plateforme installe\u0301e sur une surface de 62, 3 hectares non loin de la nouvelle ville de Diamniadio (ouest), a constate\u0301 l\u2019APS.<\/p>\n

With a total cost of 15 billion 300 million CFA francs, the Automobile mechanics and professionals activity zone has administrative buildings and places of worship as well as a police station.<\/p>\n

It will house all activities relating to mechanics with workshops, spare parts galleries and used vehicle sales dealers, said Macky Sall during the inauguration ceremony.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Amadou Ba, the minister in charge of crafts and other members of the government, as well as several professional and craft organizations from the 14 regions took part in the inauguration ceremony.<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0The realization of this unprecedented infrastructure reflects the ambition of the State to accelerate the modernization of national crafts, which constitutes a catalyst for the structural transformation of the economy and the development of human capital\u00a0\u00bb, said said the President of the Republic.<\/p>\n

Referring to a key sector of Senegal’s economic and social life, Macky Sall noted that crafts \u00ab\u00a0remains a sector that provides jobs, employing an active population estimated at more than one million people\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

For Macky Sall, this area dedicated to the automotive sub-sector is above all intended to provide a ‘structuring response to the nagging questions of the anarchic occupation of public space, mainly in urban areas, with the consequences of street congestion, environmental degradation, unsanitary conditions and other nuisances\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

The craft industry, often considered as a second chance school and employing young people who escape formal education structures, has become \u00ab\u00a0a real lever for integration due to its ability to absorb a large segment of the young population. \u00ab\u00a0, noted the Head of State. He called for the establishment of an \u00ab\u00a0effective system of upkeep and maintenance\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

As mechanical trades cannot be done in the same way as in past decades, the President of the Republic insisted on the need to \u00ab\u00a0reinforce the professionalization of craftsmen and mechanics by using new technologies\u00a0\u00bb. .<\/p>\n

In this perspective, batches of automotive diagnostic equipment were given to mechanics on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony.<\/p>\n


\nThe enhancement of the status of the craftsman<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking on behalf of a group of craftsmen and automotive professionals, Cheikh Diankha welcomed the satisfaction of an old complaint from professional and craft organizations.<\/p>\n

However, he invited the government to provide support in validating the experiments, in particular through the creation of a training center to enable craftsmen to follow the evolution of the increasingly computerized mechanic’s profession.<\/p>\n

Mr. Diankha also pleaded for a \u201cstrong and virtuous management\u201d of the infrastructure with a board of directors or a management committee which will support the actors.<\/p>\n

Aly Sow, a representative of craft organizations, also welcomed the establishment of this infrastructure which contributes to the \u00ab\u00a0enhancement of the status of the craftsman\u00a0\u00bb. \u201cThe platform offers security to the heads of mechanical workshops who often kept vehicles that cost fortunes in the open,\u201d he noted. He invited the supervisory authority to think about duplicating this model in the 14 regions of the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cZAMPA offers a special platform for dialogue and partnership which serves as a framework for professionals and users for a \u201ccoexistence in complete harmony\u201d in a pleasant living environment\u201d, rejoiced the President of the Republic.<\/p>\n
