The prosecution requested ten years of criminal imprisonment against the leader of the opposition.<\/p>\n

L\u2019audience spe\u0301ciale de l\u2019affaire \u2018\u2019Sweet Beaute\u0301\u2019\u2019 s\u2019est ouverte mardi matin sans la pre\u0301sence du maire de Ziguinchor (sud), qui est accuse\u0301 de viol et de menaces de mort par l\u2019ex-masseuse Adji Sarr.<\/p>\n

M. Sonko, apre\u0300s avoir de\u0301clare\u0301 qu\u2019il ne coope\u0301rerait plus avec la justice se\u0301ne\u0301galaise dans cette affaire, s\u2019est retire\u0301 depuis plusieurs jours a\u0300 Ziguinchor.<\/p>\n

L\u2019audience marathon s\u2019est poursuivie jusqu\u2019a\u0300 mercredi a\u0300 l\u2019aube (vers 3 h 20), a constate\u0301 l\u2019APS, dans la salle 4 du palais de justice de Dakar.<\/p>\n

Following the debates which lasted nearly eighteen hours, the prosecutor requested ten years of criminal imprisonment against the accused Ousmane Sonko for the acts of rape.<\/p>\n

Dans ses re\u0301quisitions, il a demande\u0301 que M. Sonko soit condamne\u0301 a\u0300 cinq ans d\u2019emprisonnement ferme pour corruption de la jeunesse, a\u0300 titre subsidiaire, autrement dit, si les faits de viol ne sont pas retenus contre lui.<\/p>\n

Le procureur a demande\u0301 une autre anne\u0301e d\u2019emprisonnement ferme pour des faits de menaces de mort et a re\u0301clame\u0301 que 2 millions de francs CFA soient verse\u0301s par le principal accuse\u0301 en guise d\u2019amende.<\/p>\n

Against Nde\u0300ye Khady Ndiaye, the owner of the \u00ab\u00a0Sweet Beaute\u0301\u00a0\u00bb massage parlor where the rape allegedly took place, the prosecutor requested five years’ imprisonment for complicity in the rape and one year’s imprisonment for disseminating obscene images and incitement to debauchery.<\/p>\n

The prosecution also demanded the payment by Ms. Ndiaye of 100,000 CFA francs as a fine.<\/p>\n

Me Ousmane Thiam argues that \u00ab\u00a0the crime of complicity in rape is largely constituted\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Testimonies for and against the two defendants \u2013 Nde\u0300ye Khady Ndiaye and Ousmane Sonko \u2013 were made before the criminal chamber.<\/p>\n

Seynabou Ngom, for example, reported facts that lend credence to the thesis supported by Adji Sarr, according to which there were acts of debauchery in the \u00ab\u00a0Sweet Beaute\u0301\u00a0\u00bb salon.<\/p>\n

Nde\u0300ye Khady Ndiaye challenged this witness, Ms. Ngom, considering that it was in court that she met her for the first time. The husband of the owner of the massage parlor, appearing as a witness, supported the statement of his spouse.<\/p>\n

Une \u2018\u2019faute contre l\u2019honneur\u2019\u2019<\/b><\/p>\n

Gendarmerie officer Seydina Oumar Toure\u0301, the first to have interviewed Adji Sarr following his complaint, gave testimony exonerating Mr. Sonko.<\/p>\n

Mr. Toure\u0301, arrested for several weeks before being dismissed from the gendarmerie for \u201cfault against the honor, probity and general duties of the soldier\u201d, in connection with the investigation he carried out in this case , ruled out the possibility of a rape in the places he visited \u2013 the \u00ab\u00a0Sweet Beaute\u0301\u00a0\u00bb salon \u2013 as an investigator.<\/p>\n

The legal case Ousmane Sonko-Nde\u0300ye Khady Ndiaye against Adji Sarr has held Senegal in suspense since March 2021.<\/p>\n

Mr. Sonko has been charged with rape and has been under judicial supervision ever since.<\/p>\n

Demonstrations following his arrest in this case led to the death of around fifteen people and significant material damage in 2021.<\/p>\n

Two people were killed in violence that occurred last week in Ziguinchor, on the sidelines of his rape trial.<\/p>\n

Si la de\u0301cision de la cour d\u2019appel est confirme\u0301e en cassation, le chef de l\u2019opposition deviendra ine\u0301ligible et ne pourra donc pas se pre\u0301senter a\u0300 l\u2019e\u0301lection pre\u0301sidentielle du 25 fe\u0301vrier 2024 pour laquelle il s\u2019est de\u0301clare\u0301 candidat.<\/p>\n

Selon plusieurs me\u0301dias, il s\u2019est pourvu en cassation en espe\u0301rant obtenir l\u2019invalidation de la de\u0301cision de la cour d\u2019appel de Dakar.<\/p>\n
