L\u2019opposant Ousmane Sonko, poursuivi en justice pour viol et menaces de mort sur la jeune dame Adji Sarr, a e\u0301te\u0301 condamne\u0301 le 1er juin par la chambre criminelle du tribunal de Dakar a\u0300 deux ans de prison ferme pour \u2018\u2019corruption de la jeunesse\u2019\u2019. La juridiction lui a aussi inflige\u0301 une amende de 600.000 francs CFA.<\/p>\n

Nde\u0300ye Khady Ndiaye, the owner of the massage parlor where the alleged facts took place, was sentenced to two years in prison for incitement to debauchery. The criminal chamber also condemned Ms. Ndiaye to pay a fine of 600,000 CFA francs.<\/p>\n

Ousmane Sonko and Nde\u0300ye Khady Ndiaye must jointly pay 20 million CFA francs in damages to Adji Sarr, a former employee of Sweet Beaute\u0301, a massage parlor in Dakar, according to the decision rendered by the court.<\/p>\n

The demonstrators were protesting against the threat of ineligibility that this conviction poses to the head of the leader of Pastef-Les patriotes, declared candidate for the presidential election of 2024. On Saturday, Interior Minister Antoine Diome said 15 people had been killed during violent protests between Thursday and Friday.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, the Interior Ministry announced a new death caused by the riots.<\/p>\n

Antoine Diome also reported an infiltration of protesters in Dakar and other regions.<\/p>\n

The National Police revealed that some 500 demonstrators, including minors and foreigners, were arrested Thursday and Friday in several regions of the country, during the demonstrations which took place after the verdict of the Ousmane Sonko-Adji Sarr trial.<\/p>\n
