Africa-Press – Senegal. <\/strong><\/span>The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through its \u201cUSAID Support for Public Finance Management\u201d project, announces that it has made available to ten non-governmental organizations (NGOs) a budget of 732 million FCFA for the implementation of a project aimed at \u00ab\u00a0improving transparency and public participation in the budgetary process\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

USAID presented this Wednesday to the public its efforts to \u00ab\u00a0create the conditions for a dialogue with the government taking into account the interests of grassroots populations in the preparation of the budget and economic decisions\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

\u2018\u2019Nous avons travaille\u0301 avec dix organisations de la socie\u0301te\u0301 civile pour mettre en place 21 projets\u2019\u2019, a dit Jean-Marc Lepain, chef du projet USAID Appui a\u0300 la gestion des finances publiques.<\/p>\n

La re\u0301alisation de ces activite\u0301s vise, selon lui, \u2018\u2019a\u0300 ame\u0301liorer la transparence et la participation du public au processus budge\u0301taire\u2019\u2019. Elle va e\u0301galement permettre a\u0300 la base de \u2018\u2019mieux comprendre les enjeux du budget\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n

Le projet vise trois objectifs. Il s\u2019agit d\u2019abord d\u2019\u2019\u2019ame\u0301liorer la transparence et la participation du public au processus budge\u0301taire\u2019\u2019. L\u2019objectif consiste aussi a\u0300 \u2018\u2019renforcer l\u2019efficacite\u0301 et l\u2019exe\u0301cution du budget\u2019\u2019 et a\u0300 \u2018\u2019appuyer le Gouvernement du Se\u0301ne\u0301gal a\u0300 ge\u0301ne\u0301rer davantage de recettes publiques\u2019\u2019. Enfin, le projet ambitionne de \u2018\u2019renforcer l\u2019efficacite\u0301 des contro\u0302les internes et externes\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n

Pour Jean-Marc Lepain, cette de\u0301marche \u2018\u2019favorisera une gestion plus ouverte et permet de renforcer l\u2019information au public et l\u2019engagement des citoyens\u2019\u2019. La socie\u0301te\u0301 civile a salue\u0301 les actes pose\u0301s par l\u2019USAID, qui permettent de mieux prendre en conside\u0301ration les pre\u0301occupations des populations a\u0300 la base.<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0This is a very important project which will enable us to be able to mobilize, train, inform and sensitize the populations\u00a0\u00bb, rejoiced Mor Diakhate\u0301, executive director of the NGO Alphadev.<\/p>\n

According to him, the ultimate goal is to allow the base \u00ab\u00a0to understand the budget, the development process, the implementation as well, the investments planned at the local level\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

USAID launched on January 3, 2022 the \u201cUSAID Support for Public Finance Management\u201d project, a four-year program designed to support the Government of Senegal in the operationalization of public finance reforms. The objective is to \u201cimprove, among other things, the efficiency of spending, transparency and citizen engagement for more inclusive economic growth\u201d.<\/p>\n

He reveals that \u00ab\u00a0since the implementation, on January 3, 2022, of this project of \u00ab\u00a07.9 billion FCFA\u00a0\u00bb, over a period of 2002-2025, the American government \u00ab\u00a0supports Senegal in the implementation implementation of the country’s public finance reforms.<\/p>\n
