Africa-Press – Senegal. <\/strong><\/span>Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen scored a brace on Sunday in Nigeria’s 3-2 victory over Sierra Leone, becoming, with a total of seven goals, the top scorer of the qualifiers for the 2023 African Cup of Nations, for which one day remains to be played.<\/p>\n

The player from Naples (Italian elite), top scorer in Seria A with 26 goals, therefore confirmed his good form at the moment, during the fifth day of the CAN 2023 qualifiers.<\/p>\n

Against Sierra Leone, the Italian champion scored twice (19th and 32nd ) . Osimhen, 24, thus contributed to Nigeria’s qualification for the next CAN.<\/p>\n

Before the start of the day, the Nigerian striker was five goals away and was co-top scorer with Senegalese Sadio Mane\u0301. The Lions striker, who did not score a goal on Saturday in his team’s draw against Benin (1-1), is second in the standings.<\/p>\n

Burkinabe Ouattara is third with four goals. The Bournemouth player did not score in the match lost (1-3) on Sunday by his team against Cape Verde. A defeat without consequence, since Burkina Faso had already qualified since the fourth day played in March.<\/p>\n

This fifth day continues on Tuesday with the matches: Burundi-Namibia at 1 p.m. GMT (group C), Ethiopia-Malawi at 2 p.m. (group D) and Sudan \u2013 Mauritania at 6 p.m. (group I)<\/p>\n

The sixth and final day of these qualifiers is scheduled for early September.<\/p>\n

CAN 2023 will take place from January 13 to February 11, 2024 in Co\u0302te d’Ivoire. Abidjan, Bouake\u0301, Korhogo, San-Pe\u0301dro and Yamoussoukro are the five Ivorian cities that will host this 34th edition .<\/p>\n

Twenty-four teams will participate in the competition. The draw for the group stages will take place on October 12.<\/p>\n
