At the moment we have 50,000 tons of local onion available. We also took the decision to import 10,000 tonnes [&#8230;] because we observed speculative practices,\u00a0\u00bb said Mr. Fofana during a government press conference.<\/p>\n<p>In cases where prices \u00ab\u00a0should be less than 10,000 CFA francs\u00a0\u00bb, some traders do not hesitate to sell 14,000, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Abdou Karim Fofana says he suspects some traders of engaging in \u201cstock retention practices\u201d of goods.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are producers who are waiting for prices to reach 15,000 CFA francs to start selling their stocks, which is not normal,\u201d he denounced.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0When we open the market to importers, we are criticized for it [&#8230;] When we close it to foreign products, Senegalese producers indulge in speculation, which is abnormal.
