Africa-Press – Senegal. <\/strong><\/span>The National Assembly, \u201ccrucible of democratic debate and showcase of the values\u201d of Senegalese society, has a decisive role in the implementation of the conclusions of the National Dialogue, according to its president.<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0The National Assembly, which is both the crucible of democratic debate and the showcase of the values \u200b\u200bof our society, will thus play its full part. We have, in fact, a decisive role in the implementation of the conclusions of the National Dialogue\u201d, noted Amadou Mame Diop, Monday, at the end of the session devoted to the budget orientation debate.<\/p>\n

Mr. Diop hailed the initiative of the President of the Republic, whose appeal to all the vital forces of the Nation for Dialogue, has led to a broad consensus on major questions of our democracy\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

The President of the Republic, Macky Sall, received, on Saturday, in Dakar, the conclusions of the national dialogue which he had launched on May 31.<\/p>\n

Macky Sall welcomed the twelve-point agreements in the report on the 16 points to be discussed.<\/p>\n

The President of the Republic invited the government to \u201cexamine the report carefully\u201d, with a view to \u201ctransforming the proposals into concrete measures\u201d.<\/p>\n

To give the conclusions of the national dialogue a \u00ab\u00a0more effective and resilient content\u00a0\u00bb, the Head of State gave the government a period of one week to propose to the National Assembly the adoption of legislative texts in emergency procedure.<\/p>\n

Referring to the violent demonstrations recorded following the conviction of opponent Ousmane Sonko, he noted that \u00ab\u00a0recently\u00a0\u00bb, Senegal \u00ab\u00a0has experienced serious unrest with violence, destruction of public and private property, inside as well as outside in certain Consulates\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

He added that \u00ab\u00a0these events which considerably disrupted economic and social activities, unfortunately led to loss of life and injuries\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Presenting his \u201cheartfelt condolences\u201d to the families of the victims and wishing \u201ca speedy recovery to the injured\u201d, Amadou Mame Diop considered that \u201cbesides, no one can accept the unacceptable\u201d.<\/p>\n

According to him, \u00ab\u00a0these unspeakable acts have led to the destruction of economic, administrative and social infrastructure and damaged the image of Senegal\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

He thus welcomed \u00ab\u00a0the decision of the State to implement the necessary procedures in order to shed light on these events and to locate the responsibilities\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

For Amadou Mame Diop, \u201cour salvation to all lies, in fact, in the preservation and defense of the rule of law\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must also cultivate peace, harmony and mutual understanding in order to strengthen national cohesion and the stability of the country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He believes that \u00ab\u00a0more generally, we must be in a permanent quest for peace, democracy, security, consultation, respecting the republican values \u200b\u200bwhich cement the soul of our United Nation, in its diversity\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

According to him, \u00ab\u00a0in this context fraught with threats, the genius of our people as well as the values \u200b\u200band virtues bequeathed to us by the Ancients are, without a doubt, solid ramparts for facing these challenges together\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n
