Africa-Press – Senegal. <\/strong><\/span>The World Bank declares that it has approved two financings for a total amount of 285 million US dollars, approximately 171.2 billion CFA francs, intended for the prevention of floods in Senegal and the adaptation of higher education in the country to the needs of employers.<\/p>\n

According to a press release received from his office in Dakar, an initial financing of 135 million US dollars \u2013 approximately 81.1 billion CFA francs, according to the current rate of the US dollar \u2013 was approved on Thursday June 29 to \u201creduce the risk of ‘flooding in the peri-urban areas of Dakar\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

The funds made available to Senegal will be used to \u00ab\u00a0anticipate [the risks of flooding], thanks to the strengthening of planning and urban management capacities\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

The financing of 81.1 billion CFA francs is the second granted by the World Bank to the Rainwater Management and Climate Change Adaptation Project 2 (PROGEP 2).<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0The initial financing of PROGEP 2 has already enabled the construction of more than 14 kilometers of primary and secondary canals, which protect 55,000 people and 345 hectares from flooding\u00a0\u00bb, explains the press release from the financial institution.<\/p>\n
