Africa-Press – Senegal. <\/strong><\/span>The president of the economic operators of Ke\u0301dougou (southeast), Che\u0301rif Sidy Yaffa, told APS that he noted a break in the supply of onions and potatoes at the central market of the town, two days before the celebration of Achoura commonly called Tamkharit.<\/p>\n

\u201cCurrently, the market is not supplied with foodstuffs. Everything is out of stock in the central market in the Ke\u0301dougou region. And the goods are very expensive,\u201d he said in an interview with APS.<\/p>\n

Cherif Sidy Yaffa said he noted a break in the supply of onions and earth pumps in several stores and at retailers.<\/p>\n

At the Kedougou market, he explained, the bag of onions is sold at 19,000 CFA francs and the kilogram at 1,000 francs, while the bag of potatoes is sold at 18,500 francs and the kilogram at 800 frank.<\/p>\n

According to him, there is a total shortage of potato and onion among wholesale traders and retailers.<\/p>\n

\u201cVegetables are very expensive in the market. A kilo of cabbage costs 1500 francs. Carrots and peppers are rare too. Broiler is expensive,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The regional president of economic operators of Ke\u0301dougou deplored the retention of onions and potatoes by some large producers and traders at the national level.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Orders for large quantities are on the way by tomorrow morning to supply the central market of Ke\u0301dougou with consumer foodstuffs, reassured the head of the regional trade service, contacted by APS.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe supplies will arrive by tomorrow morning in the region. And there will be no shortage of food in the coming days in the region,\u201d said Abdoulaye Sarr.<\/p>\n

Mr. Sarr underlined that his service has taken all the measures to avoid shortages among wholesalers and retailers.<\/p>\n
