Africa-Press – Senegal. <\/strong><\/span>The Director General of the Radiation Protection, Safety and Nuclear Security Authority (ARSN), Nde\u0300ye Arame Boye Faye, on Wednesday invited African countries to reflect on the prospects for using nuclear as alternative in a context of energy transition.<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Throughout the world, nuclear energy appears more and more as an alternative to be able to move towards this energy transition given that renewable energies are intermittent energies, there are a lot of problems for efficiency,\u00a0\u00bb said she said.<\/p>\n

Mrs. Faye was the guest of the National Academy of Sciences and Techniques of Senegal (ANSTS).<\/p>\n

According to the director of the ARSN, \u00ab\u00a0fossil fuels will disappear as expected and it is important that we have other alternatives and nuclear energy is one of these alternatives\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

To do this, African countries will have to put in place a regional strategy in this area to prepare for this future use in terms of assessing human resource needs.<\/p>\n

\u00bbWhat regional approach could we have to use the resources we already have in Africa and which are already used by others to produce electricity; What is Africa waiting for to be able to use its own resources in this context? asked the specialist.<\/p>\n

Nde\u0300ye Arame Boye Faye pointed out that nuclear energy is used in several countries of the world, particularly in France where 70% of electricity comes from nuclear power, whose resources, namely uranium, come from Niger.<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0The need for energy will increase, that’s undeniable. With the increase in this need for energy and the increase in population, there must be an alternative solution. It’s now that we think about it,\u00a0\u00bb she insisted.<\/p>\n
