The aggression and looting he speaks of is carried out \u00a0\u00bb with the support of some of our neighbours\u00a0\u00bb, he said, referring to the rebellion led in eastern DRC by the Mouvement du 23- March.<\/p>\n

On this exceptional occasion, I wish to express my deep gratitude to all States, to the Democratic Republic of Congo in particular,\u201d said the administrator of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), Caroline St- Hilaire .<\/p>\n

The organization of the Games of La Francophonie is \u00ab\u00a0a call for unity and solidarity\u00a0\u00bb, at the same time \u00ab\u00a0a hymn to creativity and excellence\u00a0\u00bb, according to Ms. St- Hilaire .<\/p>\n

\u2018\u2019La langue franc\u0327aise, c\u2019est bien plus qu\u2019un outil de communication. C\u2019est un puissant e\u0301cho de nos arts, de nos cultures et de nos traditions. Elle est un symbole vivant, une me\u0301lodie en parfaite e\u0301volution\u2019\u2019, a poursuivi l\u2019administratrice de l\u2019OIF.<\/p>\n

Les neuvie\u0300mes Jeux de la Francophonie se sont ouverts vendredi a\u0300 Kinshasa sous le signe de la diversite\u0301 culturelle.<\/p>\n

La ce\u0301re\u0301monie d\u2019ouverture de l\u2019e\u0301ve\u0301nement a reve\u0302tu un impressionnant cachet culturel et artistique.<\/p>\n

Au stade des Martyrs de la Penteco\u0302te, dans la capitale de la Re\u0301publique de\u0301mocratique du Congo, les tenues traditionnelles et de sport ont fait fureur.<\/p>\n

Des milliers d\u2019habitants de Kinshasa, la plus grande ville du monde francophone, ont tenu a\u0300 assister a\u0300 l\u2019ouverture des Jeux de la Francophonie, aux co\u0302te\u0301s de leurs compatriotes arrive\u0301s de diverses contre\u0301es de la RDC, d\u2019officiels et de quelque 3.000 sportifs venus de nombreux pays.<\/p>\n

Quarante pays prennent part aux neuvie\u0300mes Jeux de la Francophonie, qui vont se poursuivre jusqu\u2019au 6 aou\u0302t.<\/p>\n

Athletics, disabled sports, women’s basketball, judo, freestyle and African wrestling, table tennis, men’s football and cycling are part of the programme.<\/p>\n

Apart from sports, participants from French-speaking countries will also take part in 11 cultural disciplines, including ball juggling, photography, painting, visual arts, creative dance and hip-hop.<\/p>\n

The competitions will take place at the Martyrs de la Pentecost stadium, at the Tata-Raphae\u0308l stadium and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kinshasa.<\/p>\n
