Africa-Press – Senegal. <\/strong><\/span>Senegal’s national women’s under-25 team was beaten 87-59 by the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) team on Wednesday in a match friendly counting for the NBA Academy of Saly, noted the APS.<\/p>\n

At halftime the state score from 43 to 31.<\/p>\n

The gold medalist Lionesses of the Francophonie Games had nevertheless started to reduce the gap at the start of the 2nd half with a score of 40 against 47 before the Senegal coach asked for a timeout putting an end to the momentum of the players.<\/p>\n

Julie Dacosta, the pivot of the Senegalese team, had already scored 9 points at half-time against 13 for UCLA leader Londynn Jones.<\/p>\n

Also at half-time Senegal lost 10 balls in the 1st half to reach a total of 16 against 13 ball losses for UCLA.<\/p>\n

For point shots the UCLA team had 6 3-point shots against 4 shots out of 13 for the Senegal team at half time.<\/p>\n

The UCLA team materialized 22 points in counterattack against only 5 points for the lionesses of Senegal at the end of the match.<\/p>\n

According to the coach of the Lionesses Elhadj Diop, the match made it possible to identify what there is to improve in their game while hoping that its players can integrate the national A team in 4 years.<\/p>\n

The Lionesses coach was disqualified by the referee 7 minutes from the end of the match for claiming a foul.<\/p>\n

Joseph Lopez, a former basketball international, spoke about the performance of the Senegalese. \u00ab\u00a0They really deserved their title of champion of the Francophonie games. We have a good team now. It just takes good coaching and good coaching,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

A supporter of the Senegalese team met on the spot expressed his disappointment. \u00ab\u00a0We were 7 points from closing the gap before Ehalj Diop called for a time out and he kept asking the team to execute penetrations. (…). Unfortunately when he was disqualified, the assistant coach didn’t change the strategy either,\u00a0\u00bb lamented Moustapha Fall.<\/p>\n

At the end of the match the statistics showed that Julie Dacosta (11 pts) and Ndeye Ndioma Kane (13 pts) are the players who scored the most points for the Senegalese team during this match against 20 points for Angela Dugalic and 17 for Londynn Jones on the side of the Californian team.<\/p>\n
