Africa-Press – Senegal. <\/strong><\/span>Around thirty civil society organizations (CSOs) from the regions of Ke\u0301dougou and Tambacounda (east), members of CONGAD, are working on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with a view to measuring their level of execution and to identify the blocking points, the APS learned from the initiators of this meeting.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe felt it would be good to organize this round table around the SDGs, to see what is being done in our regions. Who are the actors on site? How do they work to achieve the SDGs? What are the achievements? \u00bb, Explained the focal point of the regional unit of the Council of Non-Governmental Development Support Organizations (CONGAD), Alassane Guisse\u0301.<\/p>\n

He noted the need to align the sustainable development objectives (SDGs) and the development objectives set out in the Emerging Senegal Plan (PSE), the benchmark for public policies in Senegal.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to develop activities linked to education, youth, the environment, natural resources, among other areas (…) with the aim of achieving the SDGs,\u201d insisted the official. local CONGAD.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are a cross-border territory where enormous activities are carried out in the major axes of the PSE, which are the fight against poverty and the transformation of resources, human development and the governance of peace and integration,\u201d said observes Alassane Guisse\u0301.<\/p>\n

The initiators of this round table on the SDGs also relied on an integration framework that is the Week of Friendship and Fraternity in West Africa (SAFRAO), an initiative which saw the light of day in Tambacounda. This initiative brings together six border towns. These are Kaye, in Mali, Basse\u0301, in Gambia, Boke\u0301, in Guinea, Gabou, in Guinea Bissau, Se\u0301libabi, in Mauritania and Tambacounda, in Senegal.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis framework capitalizes on 40 years of experience. It regularly organizes in turn a week of socio-educational and cultural activities to promote development initiatives that are consistent with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals,\u201d said the CONGAD representative.<\/p>\n

In addition to civil society organizations, the meeting on the SDGs also brings together development NGOs, grassroots community organizations, as well as local authorities.<\/p>\n
