Africa-Press – Senegal. <\/strong><\/span>Senegal’s national A’ team will leave Dakar at 4:30 p.m. to travel to Kigali, where they will play the sixth day of the 2023 African Cup of Nations (CAN) qualifiers, against Rwanda, next Saturday at 7:00 p.m. GMT, we learned from the Senegalese Football Federation.<\/p>\n

For the last day of the qualifiers for the next CAN scheduled for 2024 in Co\u0302te d’Ivoire, Senegal has called on 31 players who have never played in the senior national team.<\/p>\n

This squad reduced to 24 players will meet the Rwandan team in Huye, in the south of Rwanda.<\/p>\n

The Senegal team will be led by coaches Malick Daff and Pape Bouna Thiaw.<\/p>\n

It is made up of players from the national under-20 team and footballers from the local national team.<\/p>\n

The use of new players to make up the squad of Senegal’s national A team, which is supposed to play against Rwanda, is \u00ab\u00a0a technical choice\u00a0\u00bb and an \u00ab\u00a0opportunity\u00a0\u00bb for local football, argued the technical director national football club, Mayacine Mar.<\/p>\n

He commented on this decision by taking part in the publication, by the national coach, Aliou Cisse\u0301, of the list of 25 players selected for the international friendly match scheduled between Senegal and Algeria next Tuesday at the Abdoulaye-Wade stadium in Diamniadio.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Malick Daff and Pape Bouna Thiaw believe that the match will be difficult. They assure that the team is ready, tactically and mentally, and is determined to bring a positive result from Rwanda.<\/p>\n

Rwanda and Senegal share pool L of the CAN 2024 qualifiers with Benin and Mozambique.<\/p>\n

The Lions of Senegal, leaders of the group with 13 points, obtained the qualification from the fourth day of the playoffs.<\/p>\n

The Rwandans, bottom of the group with two points, were eliminated.<\/p>\n

Mozambique (7 points), second, and Benin (5 points), third, will compete for the only remaining qualifying ticket, during this last day.<\/p>\n

Fourteen other countries have also qualified for the final phase of the CAN scheduled for January 13 to February 11, 2024 in Co\u0302te d’Ivoire: Algeria, South Africa, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Co\u0302te d’Ivoire, Egypt, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria, Tunisia and Zambia.<\/p>\n

Twenty-four teams will participate in the CAN.<\/p>\n

The nine teams to complete the list will be known at the end of the last day of the playoffs, in early September.<\/p>\n

Sixteen countries are vying for the remaining places: Angola, Benin, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Mauritania, Mozambique, Namibia, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan and Tanzania.<\/p>\n

The draw for the constitution of the CAN pools will take place on October 12.<\/p>\n
