Africa-Press – Senegal. <\/strong><\/span>Senegal, host country of the African zone boxing qualifying tournament for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games (September 9-15), wishes to secure the maximum number of places, supported the president of the Legal and Disciplinary Commission of the Senegalese Boxing Federation, Youssoupha Sy.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur goal this time is to get the most qualifiers or at least have one who will qualify for Paris 2024,\u201d he said during a press conference at the Dakar Arena. in Diamniadio.<\/p>\n

\u00bbThe best boxers have been selected and rigorously monitored by our technicians. For almost a year, we have been preparing for this event. We have put all the assets on our side to have qualified people,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Some 250 boxers from 43 African countries are expected in Dakar to take part in the qualifying boxing tournament for the Paris 2024 Olympics.<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0The boxers will have the latest cutting-edge equipment. We will set up two competition rings to Olympic standards with the same requirements as Paris 2024,\u201d said the representative of Senegalese athletes at the Senegalese National Olympic and Sports Committee, Balla Die\u0300ye.<\/p>\n

Senegal takes part in the competition with 13 boxers including six among girls in 13 categories. These athletes participated in the last 2023 African Boxing Championships in Yaounde\u0301 (July 28 \u2013 August 5).<\/p>\n

Balla Die\u0300ye explained that for boys, \u201cthere are seven categories and the gold medal winner in each category qualifies directly for the Paris 2024 Games\u201d.<\/p>\n

Among the girls, he continued, the first two in each category qualify except for the under 75 kg where only the gold medalist wins the qualifying ticket.<\/p>\n

For men: Alphonse Mendy (71 kg), Abdou Rakhmane Ndiaye (57 kg), Pape Mamadou Sow (51 kg), Souleymane Diallo (63.5 kg), Seydina Mouhamed Konate\u0301 (80 kg), Karamba Ke\u0301be\u0301 (92 kg) , Moustapha Diop (92 kg).<\/p>\n

For girls: Dieynaba Diallo (50 kg), Mai\u0308mouna Ndong (54 kg), Marie\u0301tou Diallo (57 kg), Sagar Sy (60 kg), Awa Cheikh Mbaye (66 kg), Ndeye Seynabou Ndiaye (75 kg).<\/p>\n
