Un roman sur l\u2019histoire fran\u00e7aise des tirailleurs s\u00e9n\u00e9galais.<\/p>\n

R\u00e9dactrice en chef du Courrier de l\u2019Atlas, autrice de plusieurs essais, Nadia Hathroubi-Safsaf vient de lancer sa propre maison d\u2019\u00e9dition, Bande Organis\u00e9e, \u00e0 partir d\u2019un questionnement : \u00ab \u00c9crire des articles, c\u2019est bien. Mais comment garder trace de la m\u00e9moire de l\u2019immigration postcoloniale ? \u00bb<\/p>\n

La journaliste aguerrie chemine depuis des ann\u00e9es pour \u00ab raconter l\u2019autre histoire de France \u00bb. En 2016 elle publie Ce sont nos fr\u00e8res et leurs enfants sont nos enfants, aux \u00c9ditions Zellige. \u00c0 partir de l\u2019histoire vraie de r\u00e9sistants maghr\u00e9bins qui, pendant la Seconde guerre mondiale, ont port\u00e9 secours aux populations juives, Nadia Hathroubi Safsaf a tiss\u00e9 le r\u00e9cit d\u2019une amiti\u00e9 entre deux jeunes femmes d\u2019aujourd\u2019hui \u00e0 Paris. Sur fond de conflit isra\u00e9lo-palestinien, Le\u00efla, de confession musulmane, et Anne, juive, se questionnent sur leur identit\u00e9 et leur amiti\u00e9. C\u2019est \u00e0 la lumi\u00e8re d\u2019une enqu\u00eate dans leur histoire familiale qu\u2019elles pourront \u00e9clairer un chemin commun.<\/p>\n

Fr\u00e8res de l\u2019ombre<\/b><\/p>\n

, dernier roman de Nadia Hathroubi-Safsaf, est construit dans la m\u00eame dynamique ; celle du dialogue des \u00e9poques et d\u2019un d\u00e9voilement d\u2019h\u00e9ritages ignor\u00e9s. L\u2019on retrouve d\u2019ailleurs, en personnages secondaires, Le\u00efla et Anne. Leur ami Djibril est \u00e0 la recherche de son grand-p\u00e8re, Ousmane. Il a d\u00e9sert\u00e9 son appartement francilien au lendemain de la r\u00e9ception d\u2019un courrier qui l\u2019informait qu\u2019il serait d\u00e9cor\u00e9 de la L\u00e9gion d\u2019honneur par le chef de l\u2019\u00c9tat fran\u00e7ais. On est en 2007 et ce pr\u00e9sident, Nicolas Sarkozy, vient de prononcer, \u00e0 Dakar, sur les terres natales d\u2019Ousmane, un discours raillant la place des Africains dans l\u2019histoire.<\/p>\n

\u00ab C\u2019est l\u2019histoire de France \u00bb<\/b><\/p>\n

Ousmane, comme son p\u00e8re Issa avant lui, est de ceux qu\u2019on appelait les \u00ab tirailleurs s\u00e9n\u00e9galais \u00bb : ces hommes des diff\u00e9rents territoires colonis\u00e9s par la France, appel\u00e9s \u00e0 se battre sous drapeau fran\u00e7ais pendant les guerres de 1914 et de 1939. Djibril, leur h\u00e9ritier, grandit en France dans les ann\u00e9es 2000, dans le silence de sa famille et de celui des r\u00e9cits politiques et historiques.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Ce n\u2019est pas seulement l\u2019histoire de ta famille, c\u2019est l\u2019histoire de France, celle qu\u2019on ne raconte dans aucun manuel scolaire \u00bb, lance Aissa. C\u2019est elle qui fait conna\u00eetre \u00e0 Djibril les r\u00e9cits de Senghor, de Fanon ou d\u2019Achebe, en m\u00eame temps qu\u2019il d\u00e9couvre par bribes que son arri\u00e8re-grand-p\u00e8re, Issa, a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00ab fusill\u00e9 pour l\u2019exemple \u00bb en 1916.<\/p>\n

Quant \u00e0 son grand-p\u00e8re, Ousmane, il est entr\u00e9 en r\u00e9sistance contre l\u2019Allemagne nazie pendant la Seconde guerre mondiale. Mais sa participation au combat en tant que tirailleur sera d\u00e9nigr\u00e9e par les Am\u00e9ricains \u00e0 la Lib\u00e9ration et par l\u2019\u00c9tat fran\u00e7ais, qui manque toujours de les englober dans le roman national.<\/p>\n

Histoire invisibilis\u00e9e<\/b><\/p>\n

En s\u2019emparant de destins de tirailleurs s\u00e9n\u00e9galais, Nadia Hathroubi-Safsaf s\u2019inscrit dans le chemin d\u2019\u0153uvres qui ont racont\u00e9 des pans de leur histoire invisibilis\u00e9e ; comme le film Le Camp de Thiaroye d\u2019Ousmane Sembene \u2014 sur la violente r\u00e9pression de l\u2019\u00c9tat colonial fran\u00e7ais, en 1944, de la r\u00e9volte des tirailleurs \u00e0 leur retour au S\u00e9n\u00e9gal \u2014 ou les romans Le terroriste noir de Tierno Monenembo et Le chant noir des baleines de Nicolas Michel.<\/p>\n

L\u2019\u0153uvre de Nadia Hathroubi-Safsaf apporte donc sa pierre, avec une \u0153uvre de transmission m\u00ealant faits r\u00e9els et fiction. Ce r\u00e9cit sur trois g\u00e9n\u00e9rations se lit comme une enqu\u00eate, que seule une meilleure connaissance de l\u2019histoire peut r\u00e9soudre.<\/p>\n
