Africa-Press – Seychelles. The Minister for Agriculture, Climate Change and Environment, Flavien Joubert, is representing Seychelles at the 2nd International Corporation Forum and Meeting of African Ministers for Finance and Environment in Cairo, Egypt ahead of the COP27.
The forum will be held from September 7-9, 2022 under the theme ‘Together for a Global Recovery, Green Transition & Sustainable Future’.
The minister is being accompanied by the director general for Economic Planning from the Ministry of Finance, National Planning & Trade, Lenny Palit.
Minister Joubert will join African ministers, global policy makers, development partners, private sector, civil society and academics to discuss a wide range of priority subjects including: climate action and the green transition, innovative and blended finance, food security, and south-south cooperation; all with a special focus on the African continent.
The activities of the Egypt-ICF’s second edition will include panels, workshops, roundtables and trainings in which relevant entities will be participating.
The objectives of the Egypt-ICF are in line with the main COP27 objectives, which include going from pledges to implementation on a global level. In this regard, the forum puts forth 2 main themes: the mobilisation of finance and access to finance, financing mitigation and adaptation projects, and national actions.
The forum is organised by the Ministry of International Cooperation, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Environment, with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (Uneca) as the co-convener.
Minister Joubert will take this opportunity to convey Seychelles’ position when it comes to climate change before COP27 which will be held in Sharm el-Sheikh International Convention, Egypt from November 7-18, 2022.
