Africa-Press – Seychelles. The police have confirmed that two boys, a 7-year-old and the other 14-year-old, were treated at the Seychelles hospital on Thursday afternoon and then released, following the arrests they received in an anti-drug operation carried out by the organization in the former – Camp Gard, in the district of Mont Fleuri.

It was Superintendent Antoine Denousse, who is in charge of the visibility division in the police (Visible policing) who said this yesterday afternoon in a press conference at the Cord Guard Central, following concerns about this operation on social networks.

Sergeant Denousse, who was not trained by the operation that also involved military officers, said that according to the information he received, the two children were shot by the ends of cartridges from a cartridge grenade that was fired to disperse a the crowd that was sending different objects on the police, such as bottles and rocks among others, to prevent them from doing their job.

He explained that the police were in one of their routine operations against drugs that started at Corgate Estate and ended at ex-Kan Gard, where the incident occurred.

He added that the officers were using ‘body cam’ and an investigation into the incident has been opened.

Contrary to what is being said on social media that there were rubber bullets that were fired, Inspector Denousse confirmed that there were no rubber bullets that were fired in this operation.

He also said that all operations carried out by the police are well organized and well controlled.

He pointed out that the joint operation between the police and the military to search for drugs will continue and where things go wrong they will fix it.

He reminded that the police are always in control of the operations and the military is there to provide support.

Regarding the search procedure in the courtyards where there are children under age, Superintendent Denousse said that if the parents are not there, the police will expect the parents to come to do the search and where this was in their operation Thursday afternoon.
