Africa-Press – Seychelles. ● A percentage of ticket sales in October will go towards cancer treatment

The Cat Cocos company celebrates October Rose with an unprecedented activity. On the inter-island quay in Victoria, a team from Cat Cocos will distribute brochures and pink ribbons to their customers to raise awareness about breast cancer.

M. Joseph Albert, president of the company Inter Island Boats Ltd explained to us how this activity started for this company. “In America in 1985, they started with this Cancer month and in France it became in 1994. Among our staff, in the number of 99, we had cases where they underwent the cancer test, then we was obliged to help the affected persons for care in India. That’s where the Cat Cocos social group said why they didn’t organize an activity to earn money to put towards cancer treatment.

M. Albert announced that from October 1st to 31st, in all sales made in the offices of La Digue, Praslin and Mahé, there will be a percentage of sales that will be set aside for the Cancer Association.

Mrs. Sylvie Fournier, director of Internal Audit, added that in 2018 and 2019, the company had organized such an activity but with the pandemic we had to stop. “This year, it’s a little different and we made videos that we play on our boats with the testimonies of cancer patients and those who are cured and the importance of prevention. Our goal is to encourage people to be screened.

Mme Fournier also talked about another parameter which is the accompaniment. “When we learn that we are sick, there is a great emotion. As soon as we think of cancer, we associate it with a word that we don’t like too much – the end. So you have to be positive in these cases and we have organized with a hypnotherapist, Anne Kernanec, who will be able to explain to people the importance of being accompanied in these moments”.

Mrs. Kernanec will be at the quay every Tuesday during the month of October to help people. “My job is to accompany people psychologically and I chose the hypnosis tool because it is a tool that allows you to work very quickly and get results very quickly. Our brain records every second 7000 information, to have access to part of this information, hypnosis is interesting. It’s a therapy that can have results in four sessions.”

Mme Kernanec has been in the Seychelles for three years and her clients are 90% Seychellois

Magda Cécile and Marie-Céline Malbrook are also very involved in this process.
