Africa-Press – Seychelles. His Excellency Prof. Vȇlayoudom Marimoutou, Secretary General of the Indian Ocean Commission (COI), paid a courtesy visit, this Thursday, to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism, M Sylvestre Radegonde, at Maison Quéau de Quinssy.

The visit to the Seychelles by the SG of the IOC is located within the framework of the current seminar organized within the framework of the project Governance, Peace and Stability in Indian Ocean, (GPS). A project financed by the Agence française de développement, which aims at the strengthening of democratic institutions, the consolidation of the rule of law and the dynamisation of citizen participation in favor of peace in the Member States of the IOC.

The seminar ends on Friday.

During the meeting, the Secretary General informed the Head of the Seychelles Diplomacy not only of the objectives of the seminar, notably the installation of an electoral network system which he is already pleased with the implementation, but also of the actualité intéressant l’organisation régionale.

In this context, he gave information on current and new projects, including the Hydromet Project, which aims to increase regional resilience by strengthening the Meteorological, Hydrological and Climatological Services in the member countries of the IOC.

Regarding the COP 27, he assured the Minister Radegonde that the IOC, which attaches great importance to this climate summit scheduled for this year in Egypt, will do everything possible to support the Small Island States in Development, including the Seychelles.

It should be noted that Mr. Paul Lebon, director general of destinations and development at the tourism department, Mr. Ralph Agrippine, principal advisor and permanent liaison officer of the IOC in Seychelles, and Mr. Christian Faure, director of regional affairs, were also present à la rencontre.
