Africa-Press – Seychelles. To mark the end of this mission, His Excellency Bishop Paolo R Gualtieri paid a final visit to Minister Sylvestre Radegonde on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 in the capacity of Apostolic Nuncio to the Republic of Seychelles, with residence in Madagascar.
The Seychelles and the Vatican share a long historical relationship that spans several decades.
During the meeting, the minister and the nuncio talked about the many challenges that many societies are currently facing, including in Seychelles, notably the breakdown of morality, drug addiction, teenage pregnancy, the breakdown of family unity and d’autres maux sociaux. The role of religious in this context is to help combat these social scourges.
“Your Excellency, your efforts to further develop relations between the Holy See and the Seychelles have been greatly appreciated. We look forward to working in close collaboration with your successor in the same spirit in order to further consolidate this privileged relationship,” said Minister Radegonde during the meeting.
The two personalities also mentioned the various areas in which the Vatican and the Seychelles can collaborate, such as the training of young people and the management of environmental issues.
Note that the Seychelles and the Vatican established diplomatic relations on July 27, 1984.
