Africa-Press – Seychelles. Four young Seychellois are currently in Moroni, Comoros where they are participating in the 5th edition of the Festival d’Arts Contemporains des Comoros (FACC) which will take place from November 14 to 21, 2022.
These are two students of the Seychelles Institute of Art and Design (SIAD) Clara Lepathy and Joannes Knowles, the artist Karine Zialor and the representative of the National Youth Council (SNYC) Julianna Toussaint.
It is the deputy director of SNYC, Ghislaine Belmont, who gave them their plane tickets, financed by this local organization, during a recent ceremony at the International Conference Center in Victoria.
Addressing the youth, Mlle Belmont said that it was a great pleasure to see talented young people make this trip to Moroni, where they will meet other artists and intellectuals from the four corners of the world, including the Indian Ocean .
“I hope that the knowledge acquired during this festival will be shared with other young people upon their return to the country. I hope you will be able to model for these young people. I wish you good luck, don’t forget to be good ambassadors for the Seychelles”, said Miss Belmont.
The delegation is led by Najoie Philoe from the Creative Seychelles Agency, who organized the trip.
The FACC celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. This first edition took place in June 2012. It is about stimulating the artistic creation in the Comoros by highlighting its originality, its modernity and allowing it to be confronted with artists from other countries. The theme for this year is ‘WE’. Si on Parlait du bonheur’.
For Clara Lepathy from SIAD, it is the first time she has made such a trip and she is happy to have been chosen. Clara, who has finished her studies, thinks that this is a very good opportunity. “I’m looking forward to going to the Comoros, it’s something new, because I’ve never attended an international art festival.” In addition, we will be able to participate in a competition and I hope that we will win the grand prize”, said Clara.
For this part, Joannes Knowles explained that this news surprised him a lot. “I had a mixed feeling, because I didn’t really know what to do in the Comoros, but for now it will work.” It will be a very beautiful experience”, he said to Seychelles NATION.
The artist Karine Zialor made her third trip abroad to participate in a festival, and this time, she mounted an exhibition of photographs.
“I’m going to expose three photographs from the Victoria market, and this gathering is a great opportunity to meet other artists from around the world.” I am very happy and it will help me a lot in my artistic career”, said Karine.
As for Julianna Toussaint, representative of the SNYC, she would have more knowledge to share with other young people.
The official launch of the 5th edition of the Festival d’Arts Contemporains des Comores took place at the Palais du Peuple, in the capital city of Moroni.
The youth will return to the country next week.
