Africa-Press – Seychelles. The President of the Republic, Mr. Wavel Ramkalawan and the Vice Prime Minister of Maurice, Mr. Steven Obeegadoo met yesterday morning at the Casino de Djerba in Tunisia on the sidelines of the XVIII Summit of the Francophonie on the island of Djerba .
They exchanged on several points related to maritime security and safety, inter-island air connectivity, commercial exchanges and the strengthening of border control measures.
The President Ramkalawan proposed to the Vice Prime Minister Obeegadoo to share the Seychellois know-how on the ‘best practices’ in these mentioned areas through work workshops or multi-agency meetings that could be held simultaneously in the Seychelles and Maurice. This meeting was also an opportunity for each of the parties to address certain topics of pending cooperation for a better follow-up in order to maintain and consolidate our bilateral relations, which are already excellent.
It is worth noting that the next Seychelles-Maurice Mixed Commission is scheduled to be held in the first quarter of next year.
The Republic of Seychelles and the Republic of Mauritius are both members of the Organization Internationale de la Francophonie and have established diplomatic relations since 1988.
