Africa-Press – Seychelles. ● Father Éric Léon named responsible for the Diocesan House of Formation
In a press release issued by the Bishop of Port-Victoria, Seychelles dated December 21, 2022, and signed by the Chancellor of the diocese, Father Edwin Mathiot, several nominations were announced.
Among them, Fathers Edwin Mathiot and Roger de Comarmond who, after two long years of service, will no longer assume parish responsibility from February 2023.
Father Edwin Mathiot, still a resident of the parish of Bel Ombre, will continue to assume the following responsibilities: chancellor of the diocese, responsible for officialdom and the newspaper ‘Écho des îles’. Father Roger de Comarmond, as for him, resides at Anse Royale. He will preside over the Mass at the service of the Neo-Catéchuménal Path and will be available for other services requested by the movement. During the weekends, depending on the availability, he will provide replacements in the parishes that he will request.
Father Éric Léon, Vicar General, is named responsible for the Diocesan House of Formation and the coordination of formations provided within the diocese as well as responsible for catechesis. In addition, he will be responsible for the new digital parish of Saint Gabriel. He will reside at the cure of Anse Royale and will team up with the priest. During the weekends he will be ‘free’ to exercise his ministry as Vicar General.
Father Lonnie Adrienne is named episcopal vicar in the service of finances and real estate of the diocese. He is also named priest of the parish of Saint Antoine à Anse Etoile. Father David Alcindor, parish priest of the Cathedral, is named exorcist of the diocese. He will also animate a team of discernment to better accompany people who live in fear of the forces of evil.
Father Gabriel Siransy is named priest at the Sacré-Cœur de Jésus parish in La Misère.
The deacon Louis Agathine is appointed to the service of the parish of Saint Antoine à Anse Etoile. He also represents the diocese on the ‘board’ of the ‘Seychelles Bible Society’ with the mission of spreading the word of God in the parishes of the diocese.
Father Landry Rasamison is named parish priest of St Michel Archange, Anse aux Pins. Father Étienne Tsarazara is named vicar in the parish of Saint Michel. Father Francis Kaumbulu is appointed priest of the parish of Saint François d’Assise à Baie Lazare.
Father Yves Ngowegui-Mbenessesse is named responsible for the chaplaincy of the prison and the chaplaincy of the hospital. In addition, he will team up with Father Patrick Mabiana, priest of the parish of St. Jean Bosco (Pointe Larue) and will also be placed, depending on his availability, at the service of the parish.
Father Ronald Olero is named parish priest of Sainte Marie-Madeleine à Takamaka. He will reside at the cure of Baie Lazare to team up with father Francis.
Father Moïse Diatta is named parish priest of Sainte Thérèse à Plaisance. Father Pierre Madiela is named parish priest of Notre Dame de Sept Douleurs à Anse Boileau. Father Maurice Milandou is appointed priest of the parish of Bon Pasteur in Mont Fleuri. Father Faustin Loukanga, pastor of the Parish of the Holy Spirit, Perseverance will reside at the parish of Good Pastor and will team up with father Maurice.
Father Collin Underwood is named parish priest of Saint Joseph, Anse Royale. He will team up with Father Éric Léon. In addition, he will also be part of the animation team of the digital parish of Saint Gabriel.
Father John Ezenagu is named priest of the parish of Saint Roch à Bel Ombre. Il residera à la cure de Glacis. Father Bruno Rakotonirina is appointed priest of the parishes of Saint Anne and Saint Joseph in Grand Anse Praslin as well as the parish of Notre Dame de l’Assomption in La Digue. Father Jacques Herilala and Father Severius Kalo are appointed vicars at the service of the three parishes. The main residence of the team of the Carmelite Fathers will be Baie Sainte Anne, Praslin, but they will also have a place of residence in La Digue.
However, five priests have not been displaced from their parish, namely father Hermann Fenozara (Cascade), father Patrick Mabiana (St Jean Bosco, Pointe Larue), father Eloi Fidimalala (Glacis), father Thierry Rafalimanana ( Grand Anse Mahé and Port Glaud) and Father David Alcindor (the Cathedral).
