Africa-Press – Seychelles. As at Tuesday January 3 there were 41 active cases of Covid-19 in the country, the majority of which were on Mahé.
As per information released by the Ministry of Health, 34 cases are on Mahé, six on Praslin while one was on La Digue.
Of the districts with reported active cases, all have five or fewer cases, and no patients are admitted to hospital as a result of the infection.
The 7-day rolling average is 3 cases.
Thus far, the total number of Covid deaths had reached 172.
The public are still being urged to remain vigilant and to continue taking personal responsibility so as to prevent respiratory infection.
While facemasks are not mandatory, the policies of different organisations may require a person to wear one in a bid to help prevent transmission of respiratory infections, especially in enclosed spaces.
The public are further advised to avoid mingling with others in the event that they have respiratory symptoms, while those who test positive for Covid-19 are to stay in isolation for 7 days.
