Africa-Press – Seychelles. Eight Seychellois talents have been selected to take part in the next stage of the continent’s renowned musical competition, The Voice Africa, which will take place in Nigeria and includes the Blind auditions, Battles and Knockouts stages.

It follows their participation in the live audition held on Saturday December 3 at the Seychelles Institute of Teacher Education (S.I.T.E.), where according to Airtel Seychelles, there was an impressive number of submissions.

The Voice Africa, announced in October last year, is considered as the number one competition format music and entertainment show in the world and is sponsored by Airtel Africa.

Seychelles’ talents are competing against talents from thirteen other countries, namely Zambia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi, Madagascar, Congo Brazzaville, Chad, Rwanda, DRC, Niger, Nigeria and Gabon.

In a press release issued yesterday, the Brand and Marketing Communications manager at Airtel Seychelles, Jude Valmont, said the Seychelles participants will now join contestants from thirteen (13) other countries.

He said Seychelles have been luckiest among all the 14 countries participating to have eight talents instead of seven for each country as originally announced.

“Following the live audition held on Saturday December 3 at the S.I.T.E, Mont Fleuri, the eight strongest vocalists from Seychelles will be flown to Nigeria to film the show, alongside seven other contestants from each of the other participating countries. The next stage is the unique and show-stopping Blind Auditions, for which The Voice is internationally renowned,” stated Mr Valmont.

Following the live auditions, a total of 100 contestants will be flown to Nigeria for production of twenty shows, which include the Blinds, battles and knockouts.

“Decisions from a high-profile panel of coaches will be based solely on voice, and not looks or nationality. The coaches hear the contestants perform, but don’t get to see them, due to the rotating chairs,” added Mr Valmont.

The grand winner of the Voice Africa will be rewarded with US $100,000 prize package and a recording contract with Universal Studios – the leading music producers in the world.

Each of the selected participant from each country will also be rewarded with US $5,000 and some Airtel goodies.
