Africa-Press – Seychelles. The Chinese ambassador to the Seychelles, Guo Wei, and the Chief of the Defense Forces, Brigadier Michael Rosette, signed last week a military protocol for the delivery of an escort ship to the Seychelles.

It is the second ship that the Chinese authorities handed over to the Seychelles coast guard.

According to a press release, during the signing ceremony that took place at the Defense Forces Headquarters in Bel Eau, Brigadier Rosette thanked the GUO Ambassador for this beautiful gesture of solidarity that is inscribed in a straight line of the military assistance that China has constantly provided to the Seychelles.

“This new ship will allow us to carry out more patrols in order to protect our economic zone from illegal activities, which will participate in the defense of the country’s interests,” he added.

The Seychelles, which have a maritime surface of more than 1.4 million km2, are faced with a strong illegal fishing activity.

Ambassador Guo said she was honored to sign this last protocol before her departure from the Seychelles which, she added, “will contribute to maritime security”.

She revealed, on this occasion, that in the next few days a technical team will arrive from China to undertake maintenance work on the ship PS Etoile, which was handed over by the Chinese authorities.

“I remember visiting Aldabra on PS Etoile and it was a real pleasure to experience this experience,” she said.
