Africa-Press – Seychelles. Cable & Wireless Seychelles (CWS) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the local community through two substantial contributions made to Liam’s Rainbow Foundation.

The non-profit organisation, whose aim is to provide emotional support to children living with terminal and/or debilitating illnesses, received the generous donations during a handover that took place on June 15 at the CWS office in Providence.

During the event, a cheque for R100,000 was presented to the chair and vice-chair of Liam’s Rainbow Foundation, Erica Rangasamy and Stella Afif respectively, and member Angy Leiss, symbolising the profound commitment of CWS to the noble cause.

The substantial sum will empower the foundation to expand its efforts and provide essential care to a greater number of children in need.

In addition to this, CWS also handed over a second cheque to Chantal Hoffman and Cindy Moka of the ‘Fanm Seselwa’ Group. The amount of R12,968.50 was raised through the donation of CWS customer’s loyalty points. The donation was made towards the unique initiative known as the ‘Around Seychelles in 18 Bays’ event, organised by Isabelle Ravinia, the leader of ‘Fanm Seselwa’, a group of dedicated women.

The initiative involved sailing around Seychelles, stopping at 18 bays during the voyage. The event was to commemorate World Ocean Day and raise funds for Liam’s Rainbow Foundation. Two CWS staff – Kathleen Sydyal and Brenda Confiance – also participated in the voyage.

The resounding success of the ‘Around Seychelles in 18 Bays’ event not only fostered community engagement but also showcased the unwavering support and solidarity of CWS and its customers towards the welfare of children facing life-threatening illnesses.

This event, spearheaded by Isabelle Ravinia and her team ‘Fanm Seselwa’, exemplifies the spirit of community and compassion in Seychelles.

Liam’s Rainbow Foundation, driven by its commitment to enhancing the lives of children in need, has set its sights on an inspiring project – the construction of a playground on the hospital premises.

The funds generously provided by Cable & Wireless Seychelles will be utilised for this significant endeavour.

The playground will provide a safe and nurturing environment where children can find solace, joy, and respite from their challenging journeys.

Herve Atayi, manager promotions at CWS, expressed profound pride and gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to Liam’s Rainbow Foundation.

He stated: “At Cable & Wireless Seychelles, we are dedicated to making a positive impact in our community. We are inspired by the resilience these children have shown in the face of battling such tough diseases and remain steadfast in our support for their journey towards hope and healing.”

The heartfelt donations from CWS have set a remarkable precedent for corporate philanthropy in the region, underscoring the importance of social responsibility and community engagement. The company remains dedicated to fostering a culture of compassion, empathy, and support and looks forward to further collaborations with organisations like Liam’s Rainbow Foundation.
